Closed Questions
Closed questions are questions that can be answered with a simple
"yes" or "no" or with a specific piece of information. In
school counseling, closed questions can be useful for gathering specific
details or confirming understanding.
Examples of closed questions in school counseling:
1. Do you understand
the instructions I just gave you?
2. Did you turn in
your homework on time?
3. Have you ever
talked to a school counselor before?
4. Is there anything
specific that you would like to discuss today?
5. Did you try any
of the strategies we talked about last time?
6. Are you feeling
better today than you were yesterday?
7. Did you speak to
your teacher about the situation in class?
8. Have you ever
felt this way before?
9. Did you
experience any negative consequences as a result of your behavior?
10. Are you interested in joining a support group for students dealing with similar issues?
